About this publisher

The Hit Squad was a prominent budget re-release label in the UK home-computer market, strongly associated with Ocean's catalogue. Its releases put older full-price and arcade-conversion titles back on sale at lower prices across machines including the Commodore 64.

Documented company facts

  • The Centre for Computing History catalogues numerous The Hit Squad editions explicitly as budget re-releases, including Star Wars on the Commodore 64 and Yie Ar Kung Fu on the Commodore 16/Plus 4.
  • The museum catalogue includes many Ocean-associated titles under The Hit Squad label, including Rainbow Islands, Batman: The Caped Crusader and WWF WrestleMania.
