Ghostbusters II – Slime, Sewers and Three Very Different C64 Stages

️ Ghostbusters II (1989) – Commodore 64 Licensed Action with Multi-Stage Gameplay Released in 1989 and developed by Foursfield, Ghostbusters II is a top-down action game for the Commodore 64, published by Activision and based on the hit movie sequel. Rather than a single gameplay style, the game is structured around several distinct stages that recreate key moments from the film. The action begins in the sewers beneath New York, where you guide a Ghostbuster down vertical shafts to collect slime samples while avoiding or neutralising ghosts. This is followed by a top-down driving section through the streets of Manhattan, piloting the Ecto-1 to trap roaming spirits while dodging traffic and obstacles. The final stage shifts perspective again, delivering a side-scrolling shooter set inside the museum as you confront the game’s main threat. Each section demands a different skill set, keeping the experience varied while staying faithful to the film’s locations and tone.
