Bad Dudes vs DragonNinja – Are You Bad Enough to Rescue President Ronnie on C64?
Released in 1988 by Data East, Bad Dudes vs. DragonNinja brings classic arcade brawling to the Commodore 64 with its tongue-in-cheek premise and tough street action. You take control of Blade or Striker, two hard-hitting vigilantes on a mission to rescue “President Ronnie” from the ruthless Dragon Ninja clan. The action unfolds across six side-scrolling stages packed with gangs, ambushes, and end-of-level bosses, including a memorable crossover appearance from Data East’s Karnov. Combat focuses on punches, kicks, and timing, with weapons such as nunchaku and knives adding extra punch when picked up. The C64 conversion, developed by David Collier with graphics by Stephen Wahid and John Palmer, does a solid job of translating the arcade experience. Large character sprites and recognisable environments give the game real presence, while Jonathan Dunn’s music helps drive the action forward.
