Wizard of Wor – Team Up with Your Mate… Then Shoot Him for Bonus Points on the C64

️ Wizard of Wor (1983) – Commodore 64 Co-Op Maze Shooter Arcade Classic Released in 1983 by CBS Electronics and developed by Dave Nutting Associates, Wizard of Wor is a top-down maze shooter that quickly became a standout title on the Commodore 64. You control armoured “Worriors” battling through dungeon-style arenas filled with aggressive monsters and constant pressure. Gameplay focuses on clearing each maze by eliminating enemies such as Burwors, Garwors, and the fast-moving Thorwors, all with distinct movement patterns. Once a maze is cleared, the deadly Worluk appears, followed by the Wizard of Wor himself, taunting you with digitised speech. A radar system helps track invisible enemies, while special stages like The Arena and The Pit introduce additional twists. The game shines in cooperative two-player mode, where teamwork and positioning become just as important as shooting accuracy.
