Up’n Down – Sega Let You Jump a Dune Buggy ONTO Other Cars on the C64

️ Up’n Down (1984) – Commodore 64 Arcade-Style Vertical Racing Action Released in 1984, Up’n Down is an arcade-style racing and action game developed by Sega and published on the Commodore 64 by U. S. Gold. You take control of a distinctive purple dune buggy racing along a vertically scrolling, pseudo-3D track packed with hills, jumps, intersections, and hazards. The goal is simple but demanding: collect ten coloured flags scattered across the course while avoiding crashes and enemy vehicles. Cars can be jumped over or landed on to destroy them for bonus points, while sharp reflexes and careful speed control are essential to survive the constantly changing terrain. What sets Up’n Down apart is its unusual blend of racing and arcade action. Lane switching at intersections, dramatic elevation changes, and aggressive enemy traffic keep the pace relentless, rewarding those of us who master timing, positioning, and momentum.
