Tusker – The C64 Adventure That Wanted to Be Indiana Jones
️ Tusker (1989) – Commodore 64 Action-Adventure Exploration Classic Released in 1989 by System 3, Tusker is an action-adventure game for the Commodore 64 that blends exploration, combat and puzzle solving in a cinematic African expedition. Developed by Duncan Meech with music by SID composer Matt Gray, the game follows a young explorer attempting to finish his father’s final quest: locating the legendary Elephant Graveyard hidden deep within the African wilderness. Gameplay combines side-view exploration with item-based puzzles and survival mechanics. You travel across deserts, villages and ancient ruins while collecting weapons such as knives, machetes, guns and slingshots. These tools are not only used to defeat enemies but also to interact with the environment and solve progression puzzles scattered across the game’s locations. A unique mechanic in Tusker is the survival system. Energy and water levels must be carefully managed as the harsh environments slowly drain your resources.
