The Young Ones – Find Your Stuff Before Balowski Comes for the Rent on the C64

️ The Young Ones (1986) – Commodore 64 Licensed Sitcom Adventure mayhem Released in 1986 by Orpheus Software, The Young Ones is a single-screen adventure game for the Commodore 64 based on the anarchic BBC sitcom. You choose one of the housemates and attempt to gather all your belongings before the landlord turns up demanding the rent, all while the student house descends into predictable madness. Gameplay centres on exploring the house room by room, solving light puzzles, and managing objects through a menu-driven interface. The remaining housemates are controlled by the computer, each behaving in ways that reflect their TV personalities and frequently disrupting your plans rather than helping them. While the game aims to capture the humour and mayhem of the series, technical limitations and bugs can make progress frustrating. Licensing restrictions also meant the iconic theme tune was replaced, slightly dulling the show’s distinctive energy.
