Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles: The Coin-Op – Could the C64 Handle Konami’s Arcade Hit?

️ Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles: The Coin-Op (1991) – Commodore 64 Arcade Beat ’Em Up Classic Released on the Commodore 64 in 1991, Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles: The Coin-Op brings Konami’s hugely popular arcade brawler into the home. Developed by Konami and converted by Ocean Software, the game lets you take control of Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello, or Raphael as they battle through the streets of New York to rescue April O’Neil and stop the Shredder. The gameplay closely follows the arcade original, focusing on side-scrolling beat ’em up action against waves of Foot Soldiers and familiar villains including Bebop and Rocksteady. Combat is fast and direct, rewarding positioning and timing as you punch, kick, and throw enemies across busy urban environments. On the Commodore 64, the game delivers colourful sprites and recognisable characters, with some simplification compared to the arcade machine but enough detail to preserve the look and feel of the original.
