Silkworm – The C64 Co-op Shooter with a Helicopter and a Jeep
️ Silkworm (1989) – Commodore 64 Co-Op Shoot ’Em Up | Retro Classic Released in 1989 for the Commodore 64 and developed by The Sales Curve under licence from Tecmo, Silkworm is a fast-paced horizontal-scrolling shoot ’em up that pairs a helicopter with an armed jeep. Players can choose to pilot either the chopper or the jeep, while two-player mode allows cooperative play with one player controlling each vehicle. Together, you battle waves of tanks, aircraft, and ground forces as they flood in from all directions. The C64 conversion retains the arcade feel with smooth scrolling, power-up shields, destructible scenery, and intense enemy patterns. The port was programmed by Warren Mills, with graphics by Edward Langman and music by Barry Leitch. Although less technically advanced than the arcade and Amiga versions, the Commodore 64 edition stands out as one of the system’s strongest co-op shooters, delivering true simultaneous two-player action.
