Shadow Dancer – Did Sega’s Ninja Arcade Hit Survive the C64?

️ Shadow Dancer (1991) – Commodore 64 Ninja Arcade Action Released in 1991 by U. S. Gold and developed by Images Design, Shadow Dancer brings Sega’s arcade follow-up to Shinobi onto the Commodore 64. You play as a masked ninja warrior fighting through hostile urban environments, taking down terrorists and rescuing hostages under constant pressure. The gameplay focuses on fast side-scrolling combat, combining shuriken attacks with close-range strikes and the unique support of a loyal attack dog. Timing your moves and knowing when to deploy the dog becomes essential as enemy patterns tighten and levels grow more demanding. Despite the limitations of the 8-bit hardware, the C64 version delivers fluid animation and well-structured level design that keeps the action flowing. The darker colour palette suits the urban ninja theme, while Allister Brimble’s driving soundtrack adds energy and urgency to every encounter.
