Santa’s Xmas Caper – The C64’s Bonkers Christmas Shoot ’Em Up! 🎄

️ Santa’s Xmas Caper (1990) – Commodore 64 Festive Side-Scrolling Shoot-’Em-Up Released in 1990 by Reflective Designs and published by Zeppelin Games, Santa’s Xmas Caper is a holiday-themed side-scrolling shooter that puts a mischievous twist on Christmas cheer. After having his Christmas pudding spiked by rogue elves, Santa takes to the skies to rescue the festive season the only way he knows how. Gameplay unfolds across three themed stages, beginning in snowy Lapland, moving over the Atlantic Ocean, and ending with Santa delivering presents under fire. Players must dodge bombs, hostile toys, and enemy elves while firing an endless supply of gift-wrapped projectiles to clear the way forward. The game’s festive presentation is a major highlight, with colourful visuals that lean fully into the Christmas theme. The soundtrack features chiptune renditions of classic carols such as We Wish You a Merry Christmas and Silent Night, composed by Mark Wilson, giving the game a cheerful seasonal identity.
