Psycho Hopper – The C64 Game Where You Explored a Castle on a Space Hopper

️ Psycho Hopper (1989) – Commodore 64 Side-Scrolling Fantasy Action Oddity Released in 1989 by Mastertronic and developed by M. C. Lothlorien, Psycho Hopper is one of the Commodore 64’s more unconventional action games. Set on the bizarre planetoid Dreams in the Belt of Unreality, you explore a surreal fantasy castle in search of valuable artefacts. You move through each level perched on a floating “bouncebubble” filled with poisonous gas, bouncing from left to right while blasting enemies with a blunderbuss. Contact with enemies drains the gas supply, and if it runs out, you lose a life. A constant countdown timer adds pressure, as letting it reach zero causes the bubble to explode instantly. Progress depends on collecting all parts of a valuable object in each stage, combining careful movement with accurate shooting. The unusual physics and control scheme demand patience and practice, making early moments challenging but distinctive.
