Pitfall II – The C64 Platformer Where You Couldn’t Actually Die

️ Pitfall II: Lost Caverns (1984) – Commodore 64 Adventure Platform Classic Released in 1984 by Activision for the Commodore 64, Pitfall II: Lost Caverns is the acclaimed sequel to the original Pitfall! , developed by David Crane and designed around exploration and discovery rather than simple score chasing. You take control of Pitfall Harry as he ventures deep into the caverns of the Andes to rescue his niece Rhonda and her pet mountain lion, Quickclaw, while searching for the legendary Raj Diamond. The game features a vast interconnected world of over 100 screens, encouraging free exploration through swimming tunnels, climbing ropes, riding balloons, and navigating hidden passages. Progress depends on careful observation and learning the map layout. A major innovation is the checkpoint system, which allows you to restart from the last red cross reached after losing a life.
