Mike Read’s Computer Pop Quiz – How Tough Was This 1988 C64 Music Quiz?

Released in 1988 by Elite Systems for the Commodore 64 and re-released by Encore in 1989, Mike Read’s Computer Pop Quiz brings the popular BBC Radio 1 quiz show to home computers, hosted by Mike Read and packed with music trivia from the 1950s through the 1980s. The game recreates a full TV-style quiz format, guiding you through multiple themed rounds that test knowledge of artists, songs, dates, and pop culture history. Round One challenges players to select questions from a jukebox, while later rounds introduce clue-based star guessing, category choices, and year-identification challenges. The fast-paced Quickfire Round adds pressure with timed questions and penalties for wrong answers, rewarding speed and accuracy under pressure. A final jukebox segment offers one last chance to boost your score, keeping tension high right to the end. You can compete solo or against a friend, choosing music categories and animated team-mates that add personality and charm to each match.
