Master of the Lamps – The C64 Game That Turned Music Into the Challenge

️ Master of the Lamps (1985) – Commodore 64 Rhythm & Action Fantasy Quest Released in 1985 for the Commodore 64, Master of the Lamps is a highly original title developed by Peter Kaminski and Russell Lieblich and published by Activision. Blending action, rhythm, and puzzle-solving, the game offers a calm yet demanding experience that stood apart from the more aggressive arcade releases of the era. You take on the role of an Eastern prince on a mystical journey to restore three shattered magical lamps and reclaim his palace. Gameplay alternates between two very different challenges. The first involves piloting a magic carpet through winding tunnels, passing precisely through diamond-shaped gates where even a single mistake sends you back to the start. The second core mechanic introduces rhythm and memory-based gameplay. You face musical duels with genies, repeating increasingly complex sequences of tones.
