The C64 RPG That Let You Rob Shops, Gamble & Fight the Guards | Legacy of the Ancients

️ Legacy of the Ancients (1987) – Commodore 64 RPG Classic Released by Electronic Arts in 1987 and developed by Quest Software, Legacy of the Ancients is a wonderfully unusual C64 role-playing game created by John and Chuck Dougherty. You don't begin as a warrior, wizard or chosen hero either. You're a shepherd whose quiet life disappears after discovering the mysterious Wizard's Compendium and an Access Disk leading to the Tarmalon Galactic Museum. The Galactic Museum gives Legacy of the Ancients much of its character. Explored from a first-person viewpoint, its exhibits are unlocked using jewel-encrusted coins found throughout the adventure, revealing clues, equipment and other rewards as you gradually explore more of Tarmalon. Outside you'll find twelve towns, mountains, swamps, rivers and wilderness to explore, while character abilities can be improved through training and mini-games rather than simply grinding enemies for experience.
