Leader Board – Was This the C64’s Best Early Golf Game?
️ Leader Board (1986) – Commodore 64 / Amiga Golf Simulation Pioneer Released in 1986 by Access Software, Leader Board is a landmark golf simulation that redefined realism in sports games on home computers. Originally developed for the Commodore 64 and later enhanced on the Amiga, the game introduced precision mechanics and presentation that set a new benchmark for virtual golf. Gameplay is built around four full 18-hole courses, viewed from behind the golfer for a realistic perspective of the fairways and greens. You control shot power and direction using a timing bar, with carefully timed inputs allowing shots to hook or slice. This added a layer of skill and finesse that rewarded practice and consistency rather than guesswork. The Amiga version benefits from smoother animation and improved visuals, making courses feel more alive and immersive.
