Knightmare – Six Spells, One Dungeon and No Easy Way Out | C64

️ Knightmare (1987) – Commodore 64 Fantasy Adventure Puzzle Challenge Released in 1987 by MD Software and published by Activision for the Commodore 64, Knightmare is an adventure game based on the hugely popular British television series of the same name. You are cast into the dangerous medieval world of Damonia, trapped inside the infamous Knightmare Castle and tasked with finding a way to escape its many deadly traps. Gameplay blends traditional adventure mechanics with puzzle-solving and spellcasting. You explore interconnected rooms, interact with objects using a verb–noun command system, and deploy a range of magical spells including Anvil, Casper, Alchemy, Ice, Toad, and Metamorph, each designed to overcome specific obstacles or enemies. The game uses a distinctive semi-3D presentation, with castle locations displayed like illustrated pages in a book, giving it a strong sense of atmosphere and structure.
