Jungle Hunt – Swinging, Swimming and Stabbing Crocodiles on C64

Released in 1983 by Taito Corporation and published by Atarisoft for the Commodore 64, Jungle Hunt is a faithful home conversion of the arcade hit originally known as Jungle King. Due to copyright issues, the game was rebranded, but its fast-paced jungle action remained intact. You take on the role of a daring explorer racing to rescue a captured woman from hostile cannibals. The adventure is split across four varied stages, each testing different skills. Vine swinging demands precise timing, the crocodile-infested river requires sharp reactions and careful knife use, rock dodging pushes climbing reflexes, and the final leap over cannibals brings the rescue mission to a tense conclusion. The game supports single-player and two-player alternating modes, with difficulty steadily increasing as stages repeat. While the Commodore 64 version lacks some of the arcade’s music, it captures the structure, challenge, and rhythm of the original experience.
