Hollywood or Bust – Chasing Fame Through C64 Arcade Weirdness

️ Hollywood or Bust (1986) – Commodore 64 Slapstick Action Adventure in a Silent Film Studio Released in 1986 by Mastertronic for the Commodore 64, Hollywood or Bust is a light-hearted action-adventure that draws heavily on the mayhem and humour of the silent movie era. You take on the role of Buster Baloney, a would-be film star navigating a frantic studio complex in a bid to collect five Oscar statues and make it big in Hollywood. Gameplay blends arcade platforming with resource management and quick decision-making. Buster defends himself by hurling custard pies at enemies, with supplies replenished via a strategically placed cream tap. The studio itself is a maze of interconnected rooms, doors, and hazards, with some exits leading to hectic street scenes filled with fast-moving policemen that demand sharp reflexes and careful timing.
