High Noon – C64 Gunslinging Where the Streets Were Never Safe
️ High Noon (1984) – Commodore 64 Western Shoot ’Em Up Arcade Action Released in 1984 by Ocean Software for the Commodore 64, High Noon is a fast-paced western-themed shoot ’em up that puts you in the boots of a lone sheriff defending a frontier town from relentless outlaw attacks. Action unfolds on a single screen as bandits attempt to rob the bank, kidnap townsfolk, and overrun the streets. Gameplay focuses on sharp reflexes and positioning, with the sheriff able to fire in eight directions to counter threats arriving from all sides. Each of the five stages ramps up the challenge, introducing mounted enemies, dynamite throwers, and outlaws firing from windows, keeping the pressure constant. Between levels, you face tense quick-draw bonus duels against bandit leaders, testing reaction speed under pressure. A memorable touch of dark humour comes from the undertaker, Riga Mortis, who periodically clears fallen bodies from the street while the action continues.
