Delta – C64 Shooting with a Soundtrack People Still Talk About
️ Delta (1987) – Commodore 64 Horizontal Shoot-’Em-Up Space Classic Released in 1987 by Thalamus Ltd and developed by Stavros Fasoulas, Delta is a horizontally scrolling shoot-’em-up set deep within the Delta Sector of space. You take on the role of an elite Delta Patrol pilot, battling alien forces while rescuing stranded ships across a long and demanding campaign. The game spans 32 levels filled with tightly choreographed enemy waves and environmental hazards. Destroying specific formations releases power-ups that boost speed, firepower, and shields, but not all formations are beneficial, forcing you to learn patterns and make quick risk-versus-reward decisions on the fly. Delta is especially renowned for its soundtrack by Rob Hubbard. The iconic title theme draws inspiration from Philip Glass’s Koyaanisqatsi, while the in-game music echoes the pulsing rhythms of Pink Floyd’s On the Run, creating a moody, driving atmosphere that perfectly complements the action.
