China Miner – The C64 Platformer That Punished Every Tiny Mistake

️ China Miner (1984) – Commodore 64 Single-Screen Platformer | Retro Classic China Miner (1984), developed by Ian Gray and published by Interceptor Software, is a notoriously tough single-screen platform game for the Commodore 64. You control Wally, the sole keeper of the secret location of the Jade Mines of the Pong Dynasty, as he navigates 30 dangerous screens in search of vital objects and an exit key. Each level requires you to collect essential items such as lanterns, pickaxes, and jade artefacts before unlocking the route forward, all while avoiding enemies, lasers, collapsing platforms, and deadly falls. Touching an enemy costs a life and resets all collected objects, making precision, memory, and patience essential to progress. The game’s unforgiving difficulty, flick-screen level design, and tightly timed jumps earned it a reputation as one of the C64’s most challenging platformers.
