Chimera – The C64 Adventure with a Meltdown Timer Breathing Down Your Neck

️ CHIMERA (1985) – Commodore 64 Isometric Sci-Fi Survival Adventure Released in 1985 by Firebird Software and developed by Shahid Ahmad, Chimera is an atmospheric isometric action-adventure that places survival and problem-solving at its core. Set aboard a mysterious alien spacecraft orbiting Earth, the stakes are immediate: disable the ship’s weapons and trigger its self-destruct before the planet is destroyed. You control a lone robot navigating a maze of 64 interconnected rooms, each presented in a classic isometric view. Progress depends on careful exploration, avoiding environmental hazards such as electrical barriers, and solving puzzles that gradually reveal how the ship functions. A key twist is survival management. Food and water steadily deplete, forcing you to plan routes efficiently and prioritise resources alongside puzzle objectives. Items must be gathered and combined to assemble warheads, which are then placed in specific blue rooms to initiate the self-destruct sequence, before racing to the green escape room.
