Championship Wrestling – Did Epyx Give the C64 a Decent Grapple?
️ Championship Wrestling (1986) – Commodore 64 Arcade Pro Wrestling Action Released in 1986 by Epyx for the Commodore 64, Championship Wrestling is an arcade-style professional wrestling game developed by Free Radical Software. It delivers fast, energetic bouts that capture the spectacle of mid-80s wrestling while offering surprising depth for an 8-bit sports title. You can choose from eight fictional wrestlers, including The Berserker, Purple Hays, H. Manslayer, Zeke Weasel, Prince Vicious, Colonel Rooski, K. C. Colossus, and Zanto Klaw. Each character has unique strengths, weaknesses, and signature moves, encouraging different strategies depending on who you pick. Matches are viewed from an isometric perspective inside the ring, providing a clear view of the action. You perform punches, kicks, grapples, and special moves using joystick combinations, all governed by a stamina system that drains with each action.
