Blackwyche – Trapped Aboard a Haunted Galleon on the Commodore 64
Released in 1985 by Ultimate Play the Game and developed by Dave and Bob Thomas, Blackwyche is the third chapter in the Sir Arthur Pendragon series. This time, the adventure shifts to the haunted decks of the ghost ship Blackwyche, where Sir Arthur must free the trapped soul of Captain Richard Cavendish. Exploration unfolds in an isometric 3D view across five interconnected decks, each filled with hostile skeletons, environmental puzzles, and hidden routes. Progress depends on careful navigation, combat timing, and gradually uncovering the ship’s secrets. Sir Arthur can arm himself with knives, daggers, and a powerful magic sword, while managing a constantly draining energy supply. Survival hinges on knowing when to fight, when to retreat, and when to ring the ship’s mysterious bell to restore strength. Collecting scattered map pieces is essential to locating the captain’s imprisoned soul.
