B.C. II: Grog’s Revenge – A C64 Quest for Clams and the Meaning of Life

Released in 1984 for the Commodore 64, B. C. II: Grog’s Revenge is an action-adventure sequel developed by Sydney Development and published by Sierra On-Line. Continuing the comic-inspired world of B. C. ’s Quest for Tires, the game once again follows Thor, the stone-age caveman on his stone unicycle, as he sets off in search of the “Meaning of Life.” Gameplay alternates between two distinct styles. Mountain sections require careful balance and timing as Thor navigates narrow paths, avoids rocks and holes, and collects clams used as currency to pay tolls. Cave sections shift the pace, limiting visibility to a narrow beam of light and demanding precise movement to avoid hazards while gathering more clams. Adding constant tension is the ever-present threat of Grog. His thunderous roar can knock Thor from his unicycle at any moment, abruptly ending the journey and reinforcing the game’s risk-reward balance.
