Army Moves – Was This C64 Action Game Difficult for the Wrong Reasons?
Released in 1987 for the Commodore 64, Army Moves is a tough scrolling action shooter developed by Dinamic Software and published by Imagine Software. As the first entry in the famous Moves trilogy, it tasks you with a dangerous military mission to recover stolen secret documents from heavily guarded enemy territory. The game is split into two distinct gameplay phases across seven levels. The opening stages place you in control of a jeep and later a helicopter, navigating hostile landscapes packed with enemy vehicles, gun emplacements, and relentless fire. These sections demand sharp reflexes, precise positioning, and constant awareness as threats attack from all directions. The final stages switch perspective to on-foot action, transforming the game into a tense platform shooter. You must infiltrate enemy bases, dodge grenades, avoid traps, and carefully time jumps while pushing deeper into fortified areas.
